Filmaker & Cultural Worker

M is a filmmaker living and working in San Francisco. She has worked as a director, producer, and industry equity and equality advocate for 20+ years. She received a B.A. from SFSU in Creative Writing and an M.F.A. from CalArts in Film/Video. Wired magazine called M a "filmmaker provocateur." Her films and writing combine a fictional and documentary narrative approach that centers around themes of family and Black displacement and migration. 

In 2016, M founded Indigo Impact to produce impactful left-of-center documentaries, fiction narratives, art projects, and community campaigns. As a total cultural worker, M has been committed to the issues of people impacted by homelessness and other housing issues for over 20+ years. She currently work as Development Director at Code Tenderloin, an organization committed to removing barriers that prevent people from reaching economic well-being.
